Folake Orafidiya, PhD
Research Scientist
Having worked on various oncology-based drug and biomarker discovery projects, Folake brings to Myricx a wealth of experience across a wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques in oncology drug discovery.
Prior to joining Myricx, Folake was a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London, where she worked on understanding the interactions between non-coding RNAs and their implications for DNA damage response. Previously, as a Research Fellow at Queen’s University, Belfast, she worked in conjunction with Almac group in elucidating the biology that drives DNA damage repair deficiency in prostate cancer and how this can be exploited to discover biomarkers that can be used to stratify patients for targeted treatment and/or immunotherapy.
She earned her PhD and MSc (Drug Development) degrees from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
In addition to her interest in oncology drug discovery, Folake has a keen interest in disseminating science to the younger generation, a role she plays as a STEM ambassador.
